JOB TITLE: Senior Systems Analyst



POSITION SCOPE:
The Senior Systems Analyst meets with end users to define needs for development projects or system enhancements of medium to high complexity. The position documents functional and system related requirements and develops cost justification analysis. He/she performs systems analysis and design functions as well as participates in system testing. He/she also provides supplemental user training, and provides ongoing application support for production systems. The Senior Systems Analyst takes a major role in the deployment of new products and upgrades/changes to existing products.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Participates in steering committees and user requirement meetings and performs follow-up actions and activities as required, i.e. understanding business needs, developing short- and long-term planning documents, functional specifications, etc.
  • Takes leadership role in task delegation, detailed project planning and budgetary understanding and compliance
  • Analyzes and designs viable solutions to medium to highly complex business problems defined by user requirements
  • Responds to production problems and technical issues in a timely fashion
  • Expedites the resolution of day-to-day operating questions generated by the user, such as, function usage, program option purposes, and how to locate the information requested by the user
  • Develops a detailed understanding of one or more key systems within the application portfolio
  • Assists with the design and implementation and support of interfaces and point of integration to other application environments
  • Meets with developers to understand the technical aspects of proposed solutions
  • Documents functional and systems requirements
  • Performs systems analysis and design activities
  • Meets with all interested parties to facilitate the best solutions
  • Participates in review of all vendor related and third party provided solutions
  • Informs users on all system related issues that could impact other areas of operation
  • Supports system testing activities through all stages of the project life cycle
  • Acts as the focal point for day to day operating questions generated by the user including function usage and program option purposes
  • Ensures that all documentation repositories, including on line portals, contain updated information
  • Facilitates prioritization and resolution of all operational issues for their related applications area
  • Educates the user on all system related issues that could impact other areas of operation
  • Determines the project status, identifies additional requirements and tracks progress for their tasks
  • Supports the efforts of the systems assurance trainers in developing, documenting and delivering training for new systems and enhancements
  • Mentors and develops the systems analyst
  • Opens up problem reporting tickets and accurately uses all problem tracking software systems
  • Adheres to other defined SOPs as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned



  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in an information systems organization and/or equivalent application or business experience recommended
  • Project tracking tools/skills or equivalent work experience
  • Detailed understanding of all aspects of systems development life cycle

    Training and education: knowing how to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences, An ability to design and deliver instructional training is also valuable.
