JOB TITLE: Director of Sales and Marketing

POSITION SCOPE:
The Resort Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) is responsible for preparing and implementing Sales & Marketing plans designed to maximize resorts revenue and profit under the general guidance and supervision of the General Manager, and within the guidelines of established Corporate/Sales & Marketing policies and procedures.  Manage effectively a Sales team comprising both Leisure and Group (including Wedding/Honeymoon) and oversee the implementation of marketing programs working with internal and external resources.  Although not directly responsible for PR, DOSM will work closely with PR Manager to ensure communications are integrated and in line with the resort’s overall positioning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • To increase occupancy, average rate and profits of the resort through planning, management, and training of resort sales personnel.
  • To utilise the principles of integrated marketing and communications to identify and target high yielding marketing segments for the Resort.
  • Develop sales policies to which support maximized profits and which fit within the standards of One&Only.
  • To establish a regular sales call pattern for major accounts in conjunction with region sales team in order to maintain high profile in primary markets.
  • Identify emerging markets and new customer segment opportunities, developing and execute plans to exploit business potential.
  • Attend key trade shows domestically and internationally on behalf of the resort.   DOSM will also be responsible for ensuring resort exposure through the planning of FAM trips.
  • As applicable, work with regional offices on annual partner contracting.
  • To coordinate all methods of maintaining and increasing business volume. This includes advertising, sales promotion, personal selling, publicity, community relations, special sales projects, etc.
  • To enhance the image of the resort in the local community and key source markets
  • To build and maintain excellent client relations to establish confidence and commitment to the resort and One&Only Brand.  
  • To establish sales targets and highlight any variances with actual sales figures and recommend remedial action for significant variances.
  • To direct the development of special marketing plans to special accounts, trade show participants and unique sales and marketing situations.
  • To develop the Marketing Plan consistent with One&Only guidelines and in line with both Resort and Corporate objectives.
  • To define and target markets to be solicited, and develop an appropriate sales solicitation strategy for both domestic and international markets.
  • To provide feedback and counsel to General Manager on all sales & marketing activities and developments.
  • Manage the sales and marketing budget working closely with resort Controller and GM.
  • To develop a resort Marketing Communications Plan consistent with One&Only brand guidelines.
  • To prepare, implement and work towards the Business Plan and Activity Schedule.
  • To participate in promotional, entertainment and any other business related activities as required.
  • To coordinate the maintenance and renewal of contracts with international & local partners in conjunction with the Regional Sales Team.
  • To conduct regular sales meetings, meet and greet guests as necessary, attend trade shows or conferences or conduct sales trips both locally and internationally.
  • To prepare weekly and monthly sales reports, market analysis, budgetary control and expenditure of records and other reports as required both at resort and corporate level.


  • SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in hotel/resort sales & marketing
  • Must understand the US market and have strong familiarity with key luxury sellers/travel partners
  • Experience in product positioning and marketing strategy development.
  • Used to developing business plans from a strategic marketing plan base
  • Experience with product development, preferably in a branded 5 star environment.
  • Proven track record in Sales & Marketing management at resort level
